Unit 5C – “Safety”

Unit 5C comprises three wall-mounted graphic panels focused on safety. The first panel emphasizes strict federal oversight of the nation’s nuclear power plants as well as the industry’s commitment to safety. Text also describes the role and responsibilities of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.

The second panel serves as a graphic backdrop for a video presentation on safety (see MT9). The third panel addresses specific safety measures employed by nuclear plants ranging from facility design, to rigorous testing of air, water and vegetation, to training and emergency preparedness, to employee safety, and human performance and error prevention tools.

Media Treatment (MT9)

An informative video describes the exhaustive measures taken by nuclear plants to ensure the safety and security of the plants, employees, and surrounding communities. The video is presented on a 46” LCD monitor mounted against a large graphic of a cooling tower.
